Young at Heart Penybont

Young at Heart is a community group, serving Cefn Glas, Bryntirion and surrounding areas, based in Bryntirion Community Centre. Its purposes are: • Enable a group which enables older adults to interact with others and to take part in social activities. • Foster positive attitudes to and images of ageing to challenge negative attitudes. • Inform and advise the group members on matters that affect older people both locally and nationally. To help and advise on matters that may concern them, to engage in activities to stimulate thought and promote discussion. To provide an enjoyable environment and experience with fun and friendship from a social gathering of like minded people.

About the Project

The group is a vital asset in a large estate, parts of which suffer multiple deprivation and where over 30% are over 50 years. Loneliness is a serious problem and by ensuring the volunteers are trained we can ensure that the community's needs are met. We have a variety of skills, knowledge and learning based activities and the networking will ensure that members can be supported if required.

Our Venue

We meet every Friday 2pm to 3:30pm in the Bryntirian Community Centre CF31 4XB If you are over 50, Come and join us every Friday afternoon. Just £1 for Tea, Coffee, Biscuits and a Raffle. Slide shows, speakers, in-house activities, trips out, Friendship and much more. It's what Fridays are made for.
